For the first time ever we had 6 lucky U9s who have had the opportunity to experience the indoor facility which will give them a head start to improve their cricket skills as they re enter the SMJCL as contenders for the friendly league title and cup!
The Friday night training sessions that have been held throughout the winter months at The Manchester Health Academy, has seen many of our juniors develop their stamina, fitness and fielding skills which we believe will prove to stand them in good stead for their season at WCC in all age groups.
Everyone who attend both Lancs and MHA have been a credit to WCC and proves that Wythenshawe CC has a wealth of junior talent and have the potential to improve on league placings this season...here's hoping that some silverware will be making its way to Wythenshawe again this season.
Thanks to all who have been able to offer their time and support in making all this happen for our juniors...Tracy Bailey Jnr Secretary.Wythenshawe Jnr Crickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00633229667645007828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3412280935371579977.post-53506918602567982752011-01-08T12:35:00.004+00:002011-01-08T13:04:29.802+00:00ENGLAND ASHES WINNERS!!!! & New Year News<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 225px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUzd1dekxGDNwRoHAAiDC74HrBFWIjhvbeZesmX40LXxSQZJZN4f-vN9_sItW7MYOJGT3ncmbhBOThn27tWKH0pYdGmthR6CrLGkUd1bXwem4oiJY9sAZMCpC_b4aHnYA_f-tXO8wE718/s400/imagesCAPLURE4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5559798020477020722" />
Happy New Year to ALL our junior members and families!! The first week was a roaring success with everyone completing drills, exercises and managing to get a couple of games of Diamond Cricket in too!! I have put together a snapshot of some of the kids gaining valuable cricket coaching and as you will see on their faces they ALL had a fantastic time, each receiving a 'Goody Bag' and certificate for their hard work and excellent behaviour. We are all looking forward to another week of fun and hopefully SUN from the 16th to 20th August...why not come down and join us and see for yourself? I will keep all informed throughout the winter of any events to include "soon to be announced" our FIRST WINTER INDOOR CRICKET training, hoping to start sometime in September and also details of our yearly Winter nets (start Feb 2011) by email and text, I will also announce any junior information on here and on the club's website and play cricket.com

Listed below are some dates for your diaries:

SUMMER CRICKET CAMP
MONDAY 9TH AUGUST TO FRIDAY 20TH AUGUST
£45 PER PLAYER PER WEEK (£80 FOR BOTH WEEKS PER PLAYER)
£35 PER PLAYER (£60 FOR BOTH WEEKS PER PLAYER) IF MORE THAN ONE FAMILY MEMBER ATTENDING.
10AM TIL 3PM
PLEASE BRING OWN PACKED LUNCH

CONTACT: tracy_a_bailey@yahoo.co.uk or phone: 07973491047 for booking information.

WCC JUNIOR PRESENTATION & AWARDS EVENING
FRIDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER
7PM START
ALL CHILDREN FREE
£3 ADULTS (INCLUDES BUFFET)
COME DOWN AND JOIN IN THE CELEBRATIONS OF ALL THE JUNIORS FOR SEASON 2010

Hope to see you all soon at the Summer School and Presentation Evening and thanks again for ALL your support given throughout Season 2010
Much appreciated
Tracy Bailey Jnr Secretary
(on behalf of WCC Junior Committe & Coaching staff.Wythenshawe Jnr Crickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00633229667645007828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3412280935371579977.post-88131768172988810042010-06-09T10:41:00.007+01:002010-06-09T12:29:20.647+01:00WCC Jnr's recent results...All the WCC Junior sides have been working hard to improve their placings in the League and also getting fired up for the SMJCL Cup matches, recent results follow:

U11's

U11's last match against Lindow abandoned RAIN (6/6/10)
U11's won away at Hale Barns by 5 wickets, strong batting again from Azure Wilkinson with 25 retired not out also taking 2 wickets for 3 runs, Jack Roberts scoring 22 runs, Josh Phillips getting a creditable 15 runs a great team performance by all. (23/5/10)

Previously U11's secured a fantastic first win against local rivals Didsbury, Azure & Owen Lewis both retiring on 25 runs and Jack Roberts scoring 22 runs and taking 3 great wickets to secure WCC's win by 27 runs. (16/5/10)

U13's
U13's last match against Woodford was a real thriller...both sides hit by the 1/2 term break saw some of their regular U13's away on holidays, so some of our U11's were drafted in to help, ALL the players from both sides played well, read Ben Corrie's match summary on:
http://wythenshawe.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=11032581

Vaughn taking 4 wickets for 21 runs and retiring not out on 30, Ryan Booth also retired not out on 31 and Ross getting an LBW on 28..all the U11's who played 'up' in 13's gave a great account of themselves. (5/6/10)
Previously U13's had a resounding success over Timperley as our lads trounced them all out for only 29 runs off 11.2 overs, Ross Crowther taking the match ball with an amazing 5 wickets for 5 runs haul!! WCC didn't have to stay at the crease for long to roll out the required runs to seal a very easy walkover...Well done All! (28/5/10)
Two weeks previously U13's had sealed another win over local rivals Didsbury winning by 6 wickets, Ross Crowther (30 rtd) and Ryan Booth (18) putting on the runs for WCC, chasing Didsbury's total of 83, some excellent fielding and bowling saw Didsbury have to work really hard to reach 83, wickets falling for Ross (2) Vaughn (2) Jai Arora (1) Jont Scott (1) and Sam Grant (1) WCC's batsmen chased every ball and sealed the win with just 2 balls left!! Great effort lads.
Not such good luck in the cup! U13's losing to Bowdon by 2 runs!! Hard Luck lads you ALL played great and we all thought we were so close to a victory...next time eh?

U15's
Mixed bag for WCC's U15's, with 3 of their scheduled 7 matches so far being abandoned for rain or wet pitches!!
There is some joy though as U15's had a great win at Ashley CC (2/5/10) winning by 28 runs, Adam Marsden (15) and Michael Taylor (19) getting the majority of WCC's runs, Adam, Jont and Leon getting 2 wickets each to ensure the U15's snatched their first win of the season.
Losing 3 of the 4 matches actually played sees the U15's mid table at this point in the season...lets hope the weather bucks up and they can start getting to actually PLAY some cricket!!

U18's
Fantastic news so far...sees U18's holding joint 3rd place in the league on 15 points with Romiley & Stockport Georgians...an amazing start for our development 18's squad captained by Martin Leonard, has seen the lads secure 3 wins, 1 tie and 3 losses to deservedly stand in 3rd place.
Match against Woodford (see previous blog) was an amazing feat, yet we were to be treated to yet another thriller on Tuesday 8th June as we took on Stockport Georgians at home, after a day of "is it on? is it off?" phone calls and texts made by myself to Stockport and also with the Club..both teams decided to take their chances and play on a slow and in places sluggish wicket.
WCC won the toss and batted first...Lewis (31) & Martin (30) building up our score with steady and intelligent cricket knowledge, we reached a creditable total of 94, which Georgians must have felt was easliy reachable within the 20 overs and now good light.
WCC U18's continued to show that they are a force to be reckoned with this season as they came out fired up to make sure Georgians did not get near our score.
Some fantastic bowling from Johnathan Dickens (3w for 20r) Lewis (2) Jont Scott(2) & Nathan (1) and some amazing fielding from ALL the lads saw Georgians fail to reach our total as we bowled them all out for 84!! Oh! and Arran "GOOGLE" Riley...you are a STAR!!
WCC are certainly keeping their die-hard spectators on the edge of their seats this season....with two close run high scoring matches in a row! Of which we WON BOTH!!!
Tonight saw Capt. Martin Leonard limp his way through the opening overs, calling for a runner as a pulled thigh muscle restricted him from chasing down the required runs, getting out to a catch from one of Woodford's fielders who took some great catches from a couple of sloppy swings....WCC needed to stabilise the innings and Nathan Bailey & Ahmed (Kaka) started to keep things ticking over mid-innings. Kaka knocking out a few fours in his excellent innings of 25 and Nathan keeping a stranglehold on the Woodford attack...swinging his bat with swordlike flourishes...sixes flying around the ground..."Boom! Boom! Bailey" was the cry from his WCC teammates.

With two overs to go and WCC needed 16 0ff 12 balls....Adam Marsden took on the Woodford lads and ran singles to keep Nathan on strike....ball past through to slips and Adam's wicket went...Luke Hibbert came on to see out the last two overs...Nathan, seeing it was getting darker by the second...decided to crack out a huge six to seal the game! WCC finishing on a Fantastic 154!!

"Boom Boom!".....Well done to ALL the lads who offered some great cheering on from the sides..."will a win...and we WILL win!!
Just BELIEVE!!!

Tracy Bailey

Wythenshawe Jnr Crickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00633229667645007828noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3412280935371579977.post-62466317111390772282010-05-09T08:47:00.004+01:002010-05-09T09:07:35.928+01:00FULL HOUSE OF WINS FOR WCC JNR'SWell done all junior sides this week, after you all secured your first wins of season 2010.
U15's away to Ashley CC reached a total of 98 for 8 wickets, Ashley chased in vain closing their batting on 70 for 7 wickets, a good consistent bowling attack from WCC enabled them to keep Ashley's batsmen from getting the required runs.
U18's next and what a THRILLER!! At home to Romiley, WCC were left a little reeling from a strong batting performance from a well disciplined Romiley outfit who went into the changing rooms at the break on a grand total of 142 for 2 wickets!! They must have thought they had it "In the Bag!" but never underestimate the lads from WCC! Out marched Kyle Murphy and Capt. Martin Leonard, from ball one they chased Romiley hard and runs were being knocked up at a blistering pace!! Kyle getting out to an LBW at a fantastic 67...he came off to well deserved standing ovation, Martin continued to keep turning the screw on Romiley leading WCC off the field with a 42 not out, WCC the victors, getting the required 143 total with 3 balls to spare!!
U11's won their friendly against Brooklands at the Sale Moor ground, with some good batting from Owen Lewis and Azure Wilkinson, strong bowling from Keenan Ritchie and Adam Barnes, Bailey Bennett and Owen Rawding saw U11's get their first win too!
& Finally the U13's won away to Didsbury, with Ross Crowther again getting most of WCC's runs retiring on 30 not out, wickets fell for Didsbury as Vaughn Corrie, Ross Crowther, Jonathan Scott and Jai Arora put the pressure on to Didsbury with some fine bowling. Which is why this year we were only able to invite 18 players to Lancs, those invited were selected by WCC coaches and were players who had been selected for trials with Manchester Boys or who showed promise last season for individual session work.
I can now announce also that Junior Registration day will be on SUNDAY 21st MARCH 2010 at the club, where you will be able to register and pay for this seasons cricket and purchase new cricket whites/clothing etc on the day. I hope to have ND Sports again in attendance to offer discounted cricket equipment (bats/pads/gloves/shoes/helmets etc etc) and look forward to seeing you all down at the Clubhouse on 21st March 12 noon til 4pm.
Many thanks again
Tracy Bailey
WCC Jnr Secretary.Wythenshawe Jnr Crickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00633229667645007828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3412280935371579977.post-37317543746918672602009-06-16T00:24:00.003+01:002009-06-16T00:38:28.621+01:00Under 18's to play away at Sale CC Tuesday 16th June 6pm start all welcome!

Let's hope they can build on the great win of last week at home against Newton Heath CC as Nathan Bailey and Simon Bowers finished the match off in style reaching the required runs with an over to spare!

U13's narrowly missed out at Home vs Whalley Range: A very good match played in the right spirit and again going to the wire. For Wythenshawe, a good bowling effort from Luke Hibbert who got 4-17 from 4o, Sam Grant, Leon Richie, J Dickens. Batting wise, Jonathan Scott and Liam Dodd(another consistent performance) for retiring not out on 30 each and to Adam and Luke for solid batting.

U9's: In an exciting match played on a lovely sunny evening, WCC U9's gave Urmston a run for their money as each player worked tirelessy in trying to keep Urmston to below the required runs set by WCC U9's, Both teams playing at WCC's ground (hosting Urmston's home fixture) in a good even match, teams enjoyed the encouraging crowd of well wishers from both sides and good performances came from both young teams. Well done to Urmston and also to WCC for a strong attempt to try win the match. Urmston won out with 260 for 4 wickets, WCC reaching 249 for 3 wickets.

U9's are playing at Brooklands CC on Wednesday at 6pm all welcome!Wythenshawe Jnr Crickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00633229667645007828noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3412280935371579977.post-21465397886047924732009-06-04T09:47:00.003+01:002009-06-04T09:55:50.704+01:00U11's & U13's matches coming up!WCC U13's are away at Sale CC on Friday 5th June 6pm start all are welcome to come on down and support the lads who have had a decent start to this season.

WCC U11's are also up against Sale CC on Sunday at home start 10am, please feel free to come on down and cheer on the teams.

Link to Sale CC's ground with map details are provided below.

Sale CCWythenshawe Jnr Crickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00633229667645007828noreply@blogger.com0
