" Nathan celebrates his 72 Not Out with Lewis" A sterling team performance from WCC's U18's tonight (Tues 11th May) away to Woodford CC, saw WCC once again chasing a near impossible total of 148! WCC are certainly keeping their die-hard spectators on the edge of their seats this season....with two close run high scoring matches in a row! Of which we WON BOTH!!!
Tonight saw Capt. Martin Leonard limp his way through the opening overs, calling for a runner as a pulled thigh muscle restricted him from chasing down the required runs, getting out to a catch from one of Woodford's fielders who took some great catches from a couple of sloppy swings....WCC needed to stabilise the innings and Nathan Bailey & Ahmed (Kaka) started to keep things ticking over mid-innings. Kaka knocking out a few fours in his excellent innings of 25 and Nathan keeping a stranglehold on the Woodford attack...swinging his bat with swordlike flourishes...sixes flying around the ground..."Boom! Boom! Bailey" was the cry from his WCC teammates.
With two overs to go and WCC needed 16 0ff 12 balls....Adam Marsden took on the Woodford lads and ran singles to keep Nathan on strike....ball past through to slips and Adam's wicket went...Luke Hibbert came on to see out the last two overs...Nathan, seeing it was getting darker by the second...decided to crack out a huge six to seal the game! WCC finishing on a Fantastic 154!!
"Boom Boom!".....Well done to ALL the lads who offered some great cheering on from the sides..."will a win...and we WILL win!!
